Savvy Navvy exhibits at RYA Training Conference UK

Savvy Navvy exhibited at this year’s leading UK boating instructor conference where hundreds of marine professionals gathered at the RYA’s annual event in Oxford.

Savvy team member Chris Whatley was in attendance, enjoying a good catch-up with many of his former colleagues that he used to work with at the RYA. Recently Savvy Navvy rolled out free accounts for qualified instructors in a bid to continue to promote water safety to the next generation of boaters across the globe.

“The RYA Training Conference was a great opportunity to make UK boating instructors aware that they can access Savvy Navvy for free. Many instructors gave positive feedback on our recent developments since launching Savvy Navvy V2. It was fantastic to speak with a range of boaters and hear positive feedback from current instructors using the app. This was a great opportunity to show them our new AIS feature which was incredibly well received. The event had great attendance and it was a pleasure to see the RYA bringing digital navigation into its modern training courses,” said Chris Whatley from Savvy Navvy.

The two-day event focused on various themes, such as safety, learning from recent incidents, weather forecasting, tech talks and digital-first navigation.

Hundreds of qualified instructors have already signed up for free Savvy Navvy accounts, as they continue to promote water safety, using the app to showcase the importance of prior route planning as well as checking the weather and tides before heading out on the water.

“As a leader in digital navigation, we are firm believers in understanding and applying traditional navigation techniques. Once a solid foundation of navigation understanding is in place we then suggest training with digital navigation aids, such as Savvy Navvy, to provide a navigational cross-check for traditional navigation plans, enhancing safety and peace of mind whilst out on the water.

We encourage all our users to take formal training courses and already work with boating instructors around the world to collaborate on promoting water safety. Our campaign to provide free Savvy Navvy accounts to all qualified boating instructors worldwide is the next step in our mission to give the next generation of boaters a safety precedent from day one.” says David Cusworth, Head of Partnership and Innovation at Savvy Navvy.

It is a pleasure to see the RYA showcasing the importance of tradition alongside discussions of digital navigation support. The event was buzzing with the high-octane energy of the UK boating industry and it was a great pleasure to be a part of the conversation!

Please note any qualified boating instructors wanting to access a free annual Elite Savvy Navvy account can register for a Savvy Navvy Instructor Account.
